2 Hair Replacement Surgery Helps People Regain Hair Growth

Hair loss is a bitter reality of life. After a certain age hair begins to thin. Sometimes, hair loss occurs at an early age also. If you do not attempt to restore your hair growth, the problem may turn severe and result in balding.

Causes of hair loss

Due to the life cycle of hair, everyone loses around hundred hair strands daily. As the age increases, this number increases as well. There are different causes of hair loss. These causes may include hormonal factor, medication and even a medical condition of the individual.

Hormonal factor is a common cause. This is also genetic. Due to certain hormones, permanent hair loss occurs. This can be seen mostly in men. Women also lose hair due to hormonal changes.

In case of permanent hair loss, individuals may opt for hair replacement surgery. However, this may not be necessary for temporary hair loss that occurs during pregnancy or childbirth.

Different medical conditions also result in severe hair loss. Thyroid glands are known to control the hormone level of the human body. In case these glands fail to function properly, loss of hair may occur.

Smooth, rounding bald patches occur due to the body’s immune system. In this case, the immune system hits follicles and causes the hair strands to fall. Scalp infection is another reason of hair fall. However, in such cases hair begins to grow back after proper treatment.

Apart from these other physical disorders can also cause the hair. Diseases like cancer, depression, heart problems and blood pressure can result in loss of hair in men and women.

Hair surgery procedure
A hair surgery is a common treatment that restores hair growth and arrests hair loss. There are several clinics that perform this surgery. It is important to find the right surgeon to perform the surgery.

Before the surgery begins the doctors will review your physical condition. They will discuss about the donor hair area. After having the discussion the doctors will determine the donor area.

This discussion is an important part before the surgical procedure. You have the liberty to suggest the donor area and express your wishes. The surgeons will not proceed further without your wish.

With an injection of local anaesthesia, the hair surgery begins. This injection is given so that you do not suffer from any kind of pain. After this injection the doctor will take off the donor strip. This procedure does not take more than forty five minutes. You need to lie face down during the entire procedure.

After the removal of the strip from the donor area is completed, the doctor will close the area. While this procedure is taking place, the technicians detach the follicular units from the strip taken from the donor area.
This is the early stage of the surgery. Once this is over, you can take a break. The next stage is the grafting insertion. The hair follicular units will be placed in the recipient area.

Possible complications
Some complications may occur after the hair replacement surgery. Lack of hair growth is a common complication that you may suffer from. However, this condition does not remain forever.

You may have to consult with your doctor to find a proper solution of the problem. Scarring or pigmentation is another problem that you may face after the surgery. You need to consult the doctor if this occurs.
